FAQs

How do I enroll my child/children into the club’s football training program?
There are two ways of joining the club:

(1) : Register as a trialist – This is popular with many parents as you select the day you wish your child to come along. They come along for the session and meet the coaches and other kids, then you can decide if you want to join fully.

If you then wish to join fully, you just select the training sessions you wish to take part in. We recommend two sessions a week to make a real difference with your child.

(2) : Register Fully – If you already know the sessions you wish to join from our website or app, then just go ahead through the website or app and register with the club.

I’ve just enrolled what should we do now?
First stage:

Bring your child to the training session you selected. Your child will train in a group which after discussion with you we think will most suit your child’s abilities. The coach will then work with your child and either they they will remain with this group or be placed into a different group which we think will be more suitable and appropriate for their development. This process will take under three sessions.

Your child will then be included in the group which will show up on the club app. With the app we can then communicate with you on sessions, our football grading and termly assessment.

What age groups do we train?
We offer football training sessions from as young as three years old right through to our U18 program

How do I get my child into a team?
Easy. We have three different levels of teams.

Saturday Camden and Regents League: This is the Saturday morning league and it is brilliant fun for all and well run. Our kids love this league and each team is playing at their appropriate level. E.g. If your child is not the best technically enjoys their football, then the league encompasses a wide range of ability and is a good place to begin.

All players are selected at the start of the season to play in our squads. All new players can join a team if we have space in a team. Selection also depends on key criteria such as attendance at training, availability for matches and ability levels measured technically and in terms of maturity such as the ability to work as part of a team

For the Saturday Camden and Regents league the matches are played as follows

U7 to U12 – Play fortnightly games on a Saturday morning in Regents Park

U13 to U14 – Play games most Saturday’s around 11 to 1pm in Regents Park

Midweek Market Road League: This is one of the best midweek leagues in London, playing at a high level of technical ability, and is also one of the most competitive. We only select players for this team that can commit to two training sessions a week and are available to play at Market Road League.

When are the games at Market Road so you can plan? (U8’s play on a Saturday only)

The League provide us with a fixture list for each month one month in advance. Normally, 60% of games are on a Friday night (see below), with the others either a Monday or a Tuesday.

U9’ & U10’s play at 5pm mostly / U11 & U12 play from 7pm / U13 play from 8pm /

All players are selected at the start of the season to play in the Market Road squads. The key criteria such as attendance at training, availability for matches and ability levels measured technially and nd in terms of maturity such as the ability to work as part of a team. Any new players are identified by our coaching team and promoted to the Market Road team.

Harrow Youth League: This is one of the biggest Sunday youth leagues in London and is also one of the most competitive. Players in this league play at a high level of technical skill.

All our home games are played at Tufnell Park from 10.30 am. Our away games will be as far away as Harrow.

We only play two age groups here which are U16 and U17

We charge by the term as a club to help us cover the costs of our coaching and admin staff, facility hire, league fees and other costs such as equipment and insurance.

With Regents Park Community Sports social enterprise and the Royal Parks we are able to offer fees to make our club truly open to all:

The full price costs for each sessions are as follows:

Do my training fees cover league team costs and kit?
Your training fees do not cover the training kit and league fees but we are able to keep the prices for both the league fees and kit really low:

• League fees cover the costs of our league registration, having a paid coach at each game, administration costs to run the team program, fixtures, chasing parents for games etc. This season the league fees are as follows:

    • Saturday league:
    • Midweek league:
    • Harrow league:

• Kit costs are kept to a minimum and we use a local printer to do all our kits

Your training fees do not cover the training kit and league fees but we are able to keep the prices for both the league fees and kit really low

When do I pay our fees and how do I pay?
Your training fees are due before your child takes the first session of the term. If you are registering for the first time, then your fees are paid during your registration process or if you are a triallist, then you only pay for your initial session when registering.

The club offers two payment methods to allow us to take your fees

  • Fees paid in full via our app or online
  • Fees paid via our gocardless system which allows you to spread the cost over a three month period. This again is done via our app or online

What is our coaching ratio?
Depending on the age group we ideally work with a 1:12 ratio for our U7 to U12 football and for our 4 to 6 year olds we have a 1:6 ratio

Is the football club a business as we charge fees?

Regent’s Park is a football and sports social enterprise. Since we started in 2006, our intention was to give our local children of all abilities and backgrounds the opportunity to have the very best level of coaching in a safe, professional environment. Today, we have several full time PE Teachers/Coaches, Academy level coaches, ex Professional football players and we are introducing a World Class football coaching program to all our coaches. Our fees go towards the cost of employing our coaches, pitch and facility hire, administrative and insurance costs, developing our coaching programmes for the kids, and an extensive continuing professional development programme for our coaches.

Regents Park FC, is managed by both Regents Park Community Sports CIC Limited and Regents Park Limited.

Regent’s Park Community sports is a social enterprise that want to use their profits and assets for the public good. All club fees for concessions and donations come through this organisation.

Regent’s Park FC Limited is the company which is affiliated to the London FA. All our full price fees come through this arm of the company and we use these fees to help subsidise the club.

Are there concessionary rates?
Regents Park FC’s original aims were to be fully inclusive, giving children who otherwise might not be able to afford it, the chance to reach their football potential.

Working with the Royal Parks we were able to develop eligibility concessionary rates from 2008, which range from 50% off club fees and full “free” bursaries.

Concessionary rates and Free Bursary places
Since 2006, we are delighted to have continued to offer heavily discounted rates and free bursary places with our very football/sport social entreprise business model.

  • 38 children on free bursary places (the club self-funds this)
  • 54 children on 50% discount for club fees
  • 22 children on a 33% discounted sibling rate

Can you express these are percentages of total of kids rather than exact numbers?

14 to 16 year olds

  • This years U14 to U16 squad saw over 15 players get a free bursary place which meant they did not pay any fees and thus allowed us to keep them in our community of teams
  • We raised over £3000 in our own fundraiser to allow players to go to the Gothia Youth World Cup
  • For the Gothia Cup, we have supported as a club over £10,000 over the past 5 years to allow children from all background to go to this amazing life enhancing event. The Gothia Cup is something that has seen over 400 players from our club and this tournament almost forces the boys into communicating and having fun with many cultures and nationalities.

Young Adults

Since 2006, we have employed over 100 youth and young adult coaches and staff. Our paid training program has saw our young coaches go on to become Primary school teachers, PE Teachers, Entrepreneurs and many more positions.

What are the club’s costs?
Our expenditure ranges from:

Full time and part time coaches:-
The coaches at the club are all paid a good rate of pay to allow us to attract and retain the lifeblood of the club. Our coaches are teachers of the game but also of life. We also pay for our coaches ot have continuing professional development to maintain their high level of coaching.

Programme development costs: -
We also invest heavily in developing and accessing first class football and PE training programmes from our ties with professional clubs, and other educational organisations.

Premises and Pitch Hire:-
Last year alone, our pitch and hall hire costs amounted to over £10,000

Business costs:-
We have to cover the normal business costs and expenditure from payroll, expenses, accountancy fees, insurance, web design, league fees, payroll……

Do I need to buy a kit and what, where, how much?

The club requires all our players to wear the clubs training and football kit.

Our football kit consists of

  • Football Shirt
  • Shorts & Socks (worn Saturday and matches)

The cost of the full football kit: £35 for children and £40 for the older kits (we are charged vat for the large size kits)

Our training kit is

  • Club training t –shirt
  • track pants
  • Sweat top (worn to training and Sunday Gothia)

The costs of the training kit: £40 for children and £50 for the older kits (we are charged vat for the large size kits)

Do you have links with professional teams?

We have links with West Ham and QPR. Our youth program has seen many of our boys go to Academies. Our program has now had its first professional player with Queens Park Rangers.

We develop players to play at their highest level and we have seen over the last ten years our players become University players, Semi Pro player , Professional players but most importantly, we seem to keep many of our players still playing which has a huge help for them as young adults.

The Gothia Cup is something that has seen over 400 players from our club and this tournament almost forces the boys into communicating and having fun with many cultures and nationalities.

Can my child train without joining a team?
Yes your child can definitely train with the Regent’s Park FC without joining one of our teams. We have three packages depending on time and commitment which allow your child to only train with us at the club.

  1. Single Club Session (one session per week),
  2. Double Club Training (two sessions per week)
  3. Gothia Program (three sessions per week)

Do we have a girls team or do we train girls?
Yes we definitely coach girls.

With the increase in girls participation in football we are creating our first U8 and U10 girls teams.
Currently we have mixed sessions at our Saturday Regents and our midweek UCl session.

We may trial a ‘Girls ONLY’ program but one of our head coaches Marla is an ex Portuguese International player and she feels the mixture of games and training with and against boys helps our girls get Match ready.
